Immersion V

Following on from her first feather paintings, Immersion V expands by sublimating natural and dyed feathers in the artist’s studio in a large format: pheasant feathers, Colchis pheasant, Lady Amherst pheasant, silver pheasant, golden pheasant, worshipped pheasant, guinea fowl, cockerel, goose, duck, turkey, partridge, peacock and budgerigar… The pictorial palette used by Florence Coenraets sets the composition in motion and the eye takes flight in this painting where a fluff of colours and volatile textures come together. The four smallest formats have been called “haikus” and are like these short Japanese poems, suspended moments that celebrate the impermanence of existence.
