In Rio with Portuguese artist Bela Silva for Caminho Tropical (A Tropical Promenade), her Solo Exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art — MAC Niteroi, co-curated by Nicolas Martin Ferreira & Gil Pereira.

The Caminho Tropical exhibition reveals the resonance between Bela Silva’s sense of nature and culture and the modernist and iconic architecture of the building by Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer.

The interweaving of patterns and colours reveals the communicative joy of her art in connection with the whirling curves of the visionary architecture and the surrounding seascape.

Bela Silva is a multifaceted artist who is acclaimed worldwide. She has the rare talent of being able to master various techniques – drawing, painting and sculpture – in an exquisite way. She believes that time, observation and travelling around the world are essential to nurture her work. For her, everything is contained in nature.

Located at Mirante da Boa Viagem, on the Niterói waterfront, the MAC has a futuristic façade that offers visitors a 360-degree panoramic view of Guanabara Bay, Rio de Janeiro and Niterói. The MAC is also part of the Niemeyer Way, the artist’s second largest architectural complex in Brazil.
