Born in 1976, Wieki Somers studied at the DesignAcademy Eindhoven, where she was nominated for a design award in her third year. In 2003, together with designer Dylan van de Berg, she started Studio Wieki Somers. Their designs are characterised by a recurring fantasy element that is also expressed in the most everyday objects.Their designs, which are mainly commissioned in cooperation with galleries and companies, can be recognised by their critical approach to themes and their experimental, refined way of designing.The oeuvre excels in quality, not in quantity.Due to the complex production process and the exclusive use of materials, the edition of their designs is limited. You will rarely find it in shops, but it has been purchased by leading museums such as MoMA in New York and the Victoria &Albert Museum in London.
