Pierre Charrié

Born and lives in France

Graduate of ENSCI-Les Ateliers and School of Fine Arts, Pierre Charrié is fascinated by the sensory dimension of everyday objects and explores how materials, sounds, or gestures can trigger new interactions and transcend the ordinary. Passionate about music, his research and experimentation with the sound quality of objects have earned him recognition from his peers, with some of his works featured in the permanent collection of the Centre National des Arts Plastiques (CNAP). A versatile designer, he works with a wide range of natural materials, including wood and ceramics, feathers, and mother-of-pearl, which he combines with innovative yet ancestral techniques used by the craftsmen he meets.

With the Surfaces Sonores project, he won the Agora grant in 2013. He has since continued his work on the sound qualities of objects, notably with Galerie MICA. Pierre Charrié won the Grand Prix de la Création de la ville de Paris in 2015, was named Rising Talent at Maison&Objet 2016, was named Young Designer of the Year by Elle Décoration France in 2017, won the Kaldewei Future Award by A&W magazine in 2019, was named one of AD magazine’s Top 100 Designers of 2019 and 2020, and won the Prix de la Monnaie de Paris in 2022. Ligne Roset, Habitat, Moustache, Petite Friture, Radar Interior, Galerie MICA, Great Design Gallery, and CushCush Gallery publish his work.
