Alessandro Mendini

Alessandro Mendini (1939-2019) was a designerknown worldwide who left an important mark onthe international design language. Mendini wasthe founder of the postmodernist design groupAlchimia and designed for Alessi and Venini,among others. He was also editor in chief ofvarious international magazines for architectureand design. Alone and with others, he designedfurniture, objects, clothing, theatrical sets andarchitectural projects. Mendini has written variousbooks on design (including Unhappy Design) andarchitecture (including Farewell Architecture).His work is part of the permanent collections ofthe Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMa)and the Centre Pompidou in Paris. Mendini’s workis presented in museums worldwide. In February2014, he received the important honoraryEuropean Prize for Architecture in Milan.
