For the second year in a row, COLLECTIBLE aims to bring together renowned international galleries and designers, all at the forefront of creativity, to the bustling city of Brussels. In line with COLLECTIBLE’s ethos, Objects of Common Interest has been selected by the online publication and curatorial platform Sight Unseen to create an immersive installation at their fair booth.

Eleni Petaloti and Leonidas Trampoukis, the founders of Objects of Common Interest, focus on creating still life installations and experiential environments and objects, demonstrating a fixation with materiality, concept, and tangible spatial experiences. Based in both Athens and New York City, their studio’s work stems from an amalgamation of thinking and making between these two vastly different poles; switching between the formal and the intuitive, and embracing the handmade and the tactile, the experimental and the poetic.

Their installation, titled Landscape, is a playful, tubular juxtaposition between several elements that represent the studio’s oeuvre.  Each object has it’s own expression, but are intrinsically linked by their shared aesthetic vocabulary: Tube Lights, a series of glowing curved formations, represent the first lighting collection designed by the studio; Formations II, consists of upholstered sculptural seating elements; and Blow Chair, a domestic, soft sculpture whose colour evokes images of natural curves and earthy dune landscapes from the designers’ childhoods in Greece

We wanted to create an immersive, playful landscape of curves, seen as an installation through the individuality and juxtaposition of the various pieces presented,” said Eleni and Leonidas. “The glowing tubular lights are reflected in the stainless-steel mirror elements, extending their original shapes. They’re bent again and constantly changing as visitors progress in the space, moving around, resting, mingling and self-reflecting.”

COLLECTIBLE will be held at the Vanderborght building in Brussels until March 17th, 2019.
